The longer hours of darkness can provide offenders with more opportunities to target properties. Neighbourhood officers will be increasing patrols in the area and carrying out proactive work to identify and disrupt offenders. However, there are also several simple steps residents can take to make their homes less attractive to burglars. Home Security TipsProtecting Your ValuablesBurglars will often search common hiding places such as: Valuable items such as jewellery, cash, important documents and high-value electronics should be stored securely. Consider using a home safe that is securely fixed to the building. Avoid keeping large amounts of cash at home wherever possible. Vehicle SecurityReport Suspicious ActivityIf you see suspicious behaviour, vehicles, or individuals in your neighbourhood, please report it. Information from residents can be vital in identifying offenders and preventing crime.
